Mary Fillmore was the daughter of Millard and Abby Fillmore. She was very intelligent, speaking multiple languages and playing multiple instruments. When Millard became the president, she acted as the White House hostess due to her mom being sick.
While visiting her grandfather, Mary contracted cholera and died just a few hours later. She was only 22 years old, and the loss was devastating for Millard, who had lost his wife just a year earlier.
